Nearly five years have passed since Jessica Chastain’s wed Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo in an idyllic ceremony at his family’s Italian estate, but little has changed in terms of how the world perceives the Oscar nominee’s tall, dark, and attractive husband. The couple, whose wedding reportedly featured everyone from Anne Hathaway to Emily Blunt, is extremely discreet; not even the expected birth of their second kid in 2020 has been officially confirmed!
Nevertheless, we were able to find out a few details about the husband the star of Scenes From a Marriage refers to. Here are 10 interesting facts about the enigmatic businessman.
On the day of Chastain’s Oscar nomination, he first got to know her.
She met her spouse in Paris on a very special day, as the actress from The Eyes of Tammy Faye revealed on LIVE With Kelly and Ryan. She referred to her 2011 Oscar nomination for The Help by saying, “The day that Gian Luca and I met was the day that I got nominated for an Oscar.” She said, “It’s like, possibly the finest day I’ve ever had.”
He was raised in Italy.
Passi de Preposulo was born and raised in Carbonera, Italy, just 20 minutes from Venice, and at the age of 19, he moved to Milan to pursue his career in fashion. He referred to his relatives, who are the owners of the stunning Villa Tiepolo Passi where he and Chastain exchanged vows in January 2017, as saying, “I grew up with a tremendously big family around me.”
He is a sort of count.
Passi de Preposulo would have been a count even though the Italian aristocracy was formally abolished in 1946, rendering the title “count” meaningless. His father is recognised as Count Alberto Passi de Preposulo, and the family’s nobility is said to date back to 973. His wife revealed to LIVE With Kelly and Ryan in 2017 that “My husband’s a count.”
Technicalities are irrelevant to Passi de Preposulo. After all, “You have to be a count inside yourself,” he said in an interview with Vanity Fair in 2009.
He caused Chastain to reconsider getting married.
Jessica Chastain’s claims that she wasn’t the kind of person to dream of a white wedding as a child. In fact, the idea of getting married seemed…less than enticing before meeting Passi de Preposulo. He understood that I wasn’t interested in marriage, she said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in 2018. Then, as we got to know one another, my perspective on marriage changed. There are some things worth celebrating, and he is one of them.
He has his own prosecco brand.
With two of his boyhood friends, the fashion expert founded Fiol, a prosecco company, in 2010. He holds this drink dear to his heart. One could even argue it runs in his family, as he revealed to Business Insider in 2018. Prosecco was all around us growing up, Passi de Preposulo told the publication. The harvest was a very special time of year for us. Each year, we would work on the harvest with our parents and grandparents, and at the conclusion, there would be a great celebration lunch and supper with all of our friends and family. It was at that meal that I had my first prosecco tasting.
He is a successful fashion executive.
The Italian native is currently employed by upscale clothing company Moncler, where he supposedly oversees sportswear and outerwear. But before taking on his current position, he oversaw Armani’s PR efforts. The businessman has even credited Giorgio Armani’s niece Roberta Armani as his mentor.
He has children.
Jessica Chastain’s did give us a sight of the couple’s daughter Giuletta, whom they reportedly welcomed via surrogate in 2018. Despite the couple’s excessive secrecy regarding their children, Chastain did offer us a glimpse of the couple’s sons. She made fun of a picture of a baby’s hand reaching for a sizable piece of jewellery, saying, “You’ve got nice taste, child.” The couple was observed two years later with a second child in a baby carrier, indicating that they had doubled their family.
He enjoys severe activities.
Passi de Preposulo proved that he was unafraid of the rough by taking this picture of himself dealing with what appeared to be severe weather while purportedly climbing K2 (a.k.a. the second-highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest). He posted a photo of himself with his beard coated with snow and ice, “Proud of a great climbing team.”
A Scorpio, he is.
The Italian nobility is a Scorpio by birth sign because of her birthday on November 10 (a fact Chastain shared on Instagram).
He cherishes animals.
Passi de Preposulo seems to have a real soft place for animals, whether he’s petting elephants, riding horses, or snuggling lion cubs.
