    The current captain of the South African white-ball cricket team, Temba Bavuma, was born on May 17, 1990. He also acts as South Africa’s vice-captain in Test cricket. He bats with his right hand and is the first black cricketer from Africa to lead South Africa and get a century in a Test match.      Temba Bavuma International Cricket Career

    Let’s examine Temba Bavuma’s international cricket debut & career after he was chosen for the first time in the 2014 Test team for South Africa.

    Test Debut

    He played his first Test match on December 26, 2014, going up against the West Indies squad. He has since featured in 51 Test matches, totalling 2612 runs with the help of a century and 19 fifties.

    ODI debut

    He has only had the opportunity to participate in 19 ODI cricket matches so far, and in those 19 games, he has scored 722 runs with the aid of two hundred and two half-centuries. He made his ODI debut on September 25, 2016, playing against the Ireland side.

    T20I

    Then, almost 5 years later, he was allowed to make his international T20 cricket debut. He did so on September 18, 2019, when he took on the India team. Up until this point, he has only had the opportunity to play in 21 T20I matches, during which he has scored 501 runs with the help of one half-century.

    In August 2019 for their series against India, South Africa’s Twenty20 International (T20I) team was named with Bavuma as a member. He participated in South Africa’s maiden T20I match against India on September 18, 2019.

    Career as a captain

    On March 4, 2021, Bavuma became the captain of limited overs of the National team after Quinton de Kock. He became the first black player from South Africa to ever be named the team’s permanent captain. Bavuma made his first appearance as a captain when South Africa played the series against Pakistan. During this series, he got an injury in his hamstring and this made him to left the series after the third ODI match of the series. He also missed the T20 matches against Pakistan of the series due to his injury.

    On July 24, 2021, Bavuma played a beautiful inning of 72 runs just in 51 balls against Ireland. In the 52nd delivery, Barry McCarthy took his wicket. It was his 3rd international T20 match. In September, South Africa participated in three one-day and three Twenty20 internationals in Sri Lanka. The batter had to leave the field hurt in the first game due to a right thumb injury. Bavuma was out of the field for a few months due to his surgery, but he made a full recovery and in October once again he made his comeback as the captain of South Africa in the T20 World Cup. South Africa was eliminated from the competition in the group stage despite winning four of its five games owing to its net run rate.

    In June 2022, India will host South Africa for five Twenty20 Internationals. The series was tied despite Bavuma’s elbow injury in the fourth game, which prevented him from touring England with South Africa later that year. That year Bavuma made a second journey to India, right before the World Cup, but his performance was not good across the series. He played four innings in T20Is and ODIs and score just 8 runs. But he did not play the last two ODIs against India due to Sickness. South Africa played the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup under Bavuma’s captaincy.
